ABOUT FIBERBOARD
fiberboard is defined as a dry-formed panel product manufactured from lignocellulosic fibers combined with a synthetic resin. The panels are compressed to a density of from 500 to 900 (kg/m3) in a hot press. The entire inter-fiber bond is formed by a synthetic resin. Fiber board is classified according to density into three types: High density fiberboard ( HDF) , Medium density fiberboard ( MDF) , and low density fiberboard ( LDF). Due to its high surface quality, they are used in several applications according to its specifications. HDF board are often used in external uses cabinets building, construction, and flooring. Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is widely used in the furniture and cabinet industries because of its excellent surface and molding characteristics.
MDF industry is one of most important modern industry was first developed in the United States during the 1960s, with production starting in Deposit, New York by utilization the huge quantities of wood chips that were being discarded by lumber mills. By 1980s MDF industry was moved to Europe countries, South America countries, and Asian countries. The annual world production of MDF is estimated to be 100 million cubic meters were produced through more than 3000 plants around the world.
Egypt imports all types of wood-based panel, involving, plywood, MDF, particleboard, and, lumber from many European and Asian countries, the total quantity of fiberboard panels imported estimates to more than one million cubic meters.
